The Ducan diet, with a daily menu that uses protein foods, is a weight loss technique that bears the name of its creator, French physician Pierre Ducan. This scheme was developed thirty years ago, but the diet gained its greatest popularity only in 2002 with the publication of Ducan's work, which was called "I Can't Lose Weight".

At the end of the last century, it was believed that the best way to get rid of excess body weight is a diet based on limiting the calories and volume of food consumed. French general practitioner Pierre Ducan came up with another solution to the problem of overweight - the Ducan diet, whose daily menu should contain protein foods and certain vegetables.
The Ducan program is based on the so-called ketogenic diet. Its principle is that the body of a person who loses weight does not get carbohydrates from food, respectively, he should use an additional source of energy, which in this case is his accumulated fats. As a result of their separation, ketone bodies are formed, which, in fact, release the necessary energy.
It would seem that everything is fine - the body gets energy and at the same time gets rid of unnecessary fat. In addition, the Ducan diet, the daily menu of which includes the use of a sufficient amount of food, does not make you feel hungry and allows you to adhere to the rules of nutrition not only at home but also in the country. work.
Polish scientists conducted a scientific experiment in which overweight women participated. As a result, it turns out that following the rules of a carb-free diet really helps in losing those extra pounds.
However, not all that simple. The fact is that, first of all, the body is taken for the consumption of glycogen by the liver and only after that it begins to break down fats, that is, the ketosis process begins after the liver reserves are empty. Moreover, its success depends directly on the production of insulin.
Remember that following a diet can provoke excess protein in the body, which will create additional stress on some organs, especially the kidneys and liver. There is another disadvantage of this method of weight loss - insufficient intake of fiber in the body, which can provoke a violation of digestive processes, lead to constipation.
To eliminate such problems, it is recommended to deal with weight loss according to the Ducan method only after prior consultation with a doctor and under his supervision.
Ducan Diet: a daily menu, a meal table recommended by the author
Ducan's famous diet, daily menu and recommended table of foods for inclusion look something like this:
- milk and dairy products - low-fat varieties of cottage cheese, fermented baked milk, yogurt, low-salt sliced cheese, yogurt;
- fish and other seafood - squid, shrimp, scallops, lobster and others;
- chicken and rabbit. You can use calf and calf;
- vegetables - beets, cucumbers, herbs, radishes, cabbage, onions, peppers, eggplants, zucchini, squash;
- quail or chicken eggs.

The Dukan diet, the daily menu of which includes the use of mainly protein foods, consists of 4 stages:
- The first is the attack
This stage of weight loss is created for a rapid weight loss (about three kilograms per week). A similar effect during the attack period is most often explained not by the loss of fat deposits, but by the withdrawal of fluids from the body. The main purpose of the first part of the Ducan diet, the daily menu of which excludes the use of carbohydrate-rich foods, is to strengthen the motivation for further weight loss.
The task of the next stage is to gradually achieve optimal weight including protein products on the menu as well as allowed vegetables. The duration of the second phase is approximately seven days per kilogram of excess weight. All products included in the meal at this time are selected in accordance with the rules for the implementation of the "Ducan Diet, menu for every day". - Consolidation of results

The duration of the consolidation phase should be about ten days per kilogram of excess weight lost. As a rule, in the second and third stages of weight loss according to the Ducan method, a person loses about 400 g per week, which dispels the rumors of rapid burning of excess fat.
In the fourth phase, the Ducan diet, the daily menu from which in the continuation of the previous three phases took considerable restrictions, allows the use of almost all food products, depending on certain rules:
- once in seven days, make a day exclusively of protein, that is, on this day, the menu should not contain foods rich in fats and carbohydrates;
- oat bran should be present in the diet daily;
Pay attention to increasing physical activity. If it is not possible to practice in the gym, then you can always find time for jogging or walking. Otherwise, decline the elevator and walk a few stops every day.
The final stage of weight loss according to the Ducan method should last as long as a person wants to stay in shape and not be overweight, that is, it is advised to adhere to these rules throughout his life.
